Dear fellow Americans and other residents of this great country who have hunkered down during this anxious time, I have good news. We are through the worst of it, the Coronavirus infection numbers are rapidly decreasing and Covid-19 mortality rates are negligible. We are confident that we will be at 0% very soon. I want to thank all 50 governors for coordinating with the federal directives to achieve these rapid results. Due to immediate stay at home orders from coast to coast we were able to stem transmissions before they happened. Had we not acted in January, the virus would have certainly rampaged through densely populated cities then made it way into suburban and rural areas and lasted many months with the fear of continued outbreaks through the summer and fall.
Before disaster struck we were able to provide health care facilities with PPE, ventilators and other equipment, however as the need didn’t rise to catastrophic levels we were able to loan and donate that equipment to countries less fortunate than ourselves. Luckily the pandemic plans left in place by previous administrations are consistently updated and stockpiles of equipment have been and always will be constantly monitored in case of potential disasters; bio-hazard, natural, or man-made. My administration takes nothing more serious than protecting US citizens from harm.
By providing immediate financial assistance directly to American families, we avoided the ruinous pitfalls of poor planning. Financial aid was sent to where it was most needed; small businesses and the disadvantaged then up the economic ladder. Since Universal Medicare has relieved companies of the burden of employee insurance, they were able to marshal their resources and avoid failure. Additionally health care costs are drastically reduced due to the successful overhaul of the entire system. All of these initiatives staved off certain multi-pronged disasters; massive unemployment, food shortages and food insecurity, housing crises of non-rent and mortgage payments, collapsing industries, and people afraid to seek care. Increased taxes on the wealthiest corporations and tightened tax and lobbying loop-holes cushioned the federal budget just in time. A less prudent administration might have been forced to apply exorbitantly expensive band-aid remedies and increased deficit spending, which was avoided. Nor were large corporations able to muscle in front of smaller businesses for loans or grants. We keep a watchful eye of where your money goes.
The CDC, WHO and our global partners, in a coordinated effort along with the Gates Foundation are developing and producing trial vaccines and antibody tests as well as tracking software which are at this very moment being distributed across the world for free. That data will enable health organizations on all continents to confine and eradicate outbreaks at the source. We recognize the thousands of doctors, engineers, technicians who make this valuable information available.
My administration honors all the medical care providers and the food supply workers. We thank the corporations, and religious groups who vigorously backed the shelter at home orders. We thank the press for providing stellar news coverage that kept relevant information and guidelines available. And mostly we are grateful to all of you at home who reached out as neighbors, friends and countrymen and women to strengthen even the the most vulnerable among us with collective courage and resilience. Your generosity of spirit is what makes this country exceptional. As always America was that shining beacon on the hill, leading the world by principle and example.
As we finalize reopening the country with cautious optimism, we also mourn the loss of the two hundred who were stricken and pray for those who are still ill. A national day of mourning is being planned to supplement the weekly mourning from the Rose Garden that I, your President, and the First Husband perform sadly every week.
From our House to yours,
God bless you, we love you,
Hilary and Bill
